Our comprehensive report EVvolumes.com According to the annual data collected by the website recently, the global sales of battery electric vehicles (Bev) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) will reach 3.24 million in 2020, an increase of 43% compared with 2.26 million in 2019. Among them, 1.4 million were sold in Europe. The sales of electric vehicles in Europe (including the non EU countries that signed the European Free Trade Agreement and the United Kingdom) increased by 137%, while the overall automobile market decreased by 20%. This is the first time that Europe has overtaken China in terms of electric vehicle growth since 2015. Part of the reason for the surge in car sales in Europe is that car manufacturers must meet the average emission targets set by the European Union by 2020.
Battery electric vehicles (BEVS) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) account for 4.2% of the global automotive market, up from 2.5% in 2019. According to the data, China (1.3 million vehicles), Germany (400000 vehicles), the United States (300000 vehicles), France and the United Kingdom (200000 vehicles each) ranked the top five in terms of sales.
